About Bronchial Asthma

Bronchial asthma, often referred to simply as asthma, is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways in the lungs. It causes airways to narrow and swell, producing extra mucus, which makes breathing difficult. Asthma symptoms can be triggered by a variety of things, including allergens, irritants, and exercise.

In Ayurveda, bronchial asthma is referred to as Tamaka Shwasa. It is considered a disorder caused by an imbalance of the doshas, particularly Vata and Kapha. The primary cause is believed to be the accumulation of ama (toxins) and aggravated doshas obstructing the respiratory channels (Pranavaha Srotas).
